After a recent coronavirus case surge that lasted for weeks, South Korea’s new infection numbers were below 200 for an eighth consecutive day on September 10, 2020. During the latest wave of cases, the nation has also been dealing with a two-week strike by trainee doctors opposed to government plans to increase the number of medical students. Health care experts said that persistent untraceable transmissions and a spate of cluster infections mean it is still too soon for the country to ease social-distancing rules.
