9/11 anniversary: Trump praises US for coming together in wake of tragedy | FULL SPEECH

CA, 11 Sep 2020
U.S. President Donald Trump delivered remarks in Shanksville, Pa. on Friday at the site where United 93 crashed some 19 years ago, and praised Americans for coming together in the days and years that followed the deadly terror attacks of September 11, 2001.

“It didn’t matter what race you were, what religion you were, it didn’t matter. We all came together to help one another. I’d die for this country,” Trump told those in attendance.

He also spoke about the 40 people on board United Airlines Flight 93, who died trying to take control of the flight after it was hijacked on Sept. 11, 2001, before the plane crashed in a field in Shanksville.
“Nothing could have prepared them for the dreadful events of that morning, but when the moment came, when history called, they did not hesitate, they did not waver,” Trump said about the passengers and crew. “Forty towering patriots rose up, took charge, made their stand, turned the tide and changed the course of history forever.”

The president also said the U.S. would never relent in pursuing terrorists who threaten the U.S., adding they had late last year killed Islamic State leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, and major general in the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, Qassem Soleimani.

A total of 2,977 people died as a result of the attacks, not including the Al-Qaeda members, with 40 people on board the United 93 flight.
