A small double-decker ferry sank in Bangladesh’s Shitalakshya River, after being hit by a cargo vessel on April 4, 2021. At least 26 people were killed. The ferry, carrying around 50 passengers, was on its way to Munshiganj district from Narayanganj district. Many of the passengers were rushing back to their hometowns as the country imposed a new week-long lockdown banning all domestic travel services, including ferries, starting from April 5.
