People in the Lapland region of northern Finland were treated to a magnificent light show overnight on Friday, with the Arctic sky lit up with vivid greens and pinks.

The northern lights, also known as the aurora borealis, appear when charged particles from the Sun collide with the Earth’s atmosphere.

The end of September is one of the best times to see the northern lights in Finland.
