Australia suspends extradition treaty with Hong Kong, China warns of "further action"

Australia announced on Thursday it would be suspending its extradition treaty with Hong Kong, the latest country to do so in the wake of China's new national security legislation imposed on the city.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison also said they'd be extending visas for Hong Kong citizens currently in Australia and would offer them a path to stay.

China warned on Thursday that it reserves the right to take further action in response to Australia suspending the treaty and called on the country to "immediately change course" and stop interfering in Hong Kong and China's internal affairs.
