BC floods: Defence minister, federal officials to provide update on situation in the province | LIVE

CA, 22 Nov 2021
Canada's Minister of Border Security and Emergency Preparedness Bill Blair and National Defence Minister Anita Anand, along with other federal ministers, will provide an update Sunday on the situation in British Columbia following the devastating flooding and landslides in the province.

Road crews were able to open a second highway corridor between the Lower Mainland and B.C.'s interior on Saturday. B.C. Transportation Minister Rob Fleming said work was still underway to repair Highway 99 between Pemberton and Lillooet, but said as of 12 p.m. on Saturday the highway was safe enough for passenger vehicles and essential travel only.

There have been reports of long lineups at gas stations in the wake of a new order restricting fuel purchases to 30 litres per fill-up, which will remain in place for the next 10 days.

The province is urging residents to stay off of affected highways unless necessary and to consider working from home or taking transit in order to conserve fuel.
