Beijing vows to retaliate against U.S. over latest moves on HKSAR
CGTN, 15 Jul 2020
China has vowed to retaliate against Washington after U.S. President Donald Trump signed an executive order, which essentially ends Hong Kong's preferential trade status. It came after the new national security law for the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) came into being earlier this month. Washington claims the law means HKSAR is no longer entitled to special trade privileges and should be treated just like the Chinese mainland. The episode marks another low point in China-U.S. bilateral relations in recent months.
