Belarus police crackdown on protests after Lukashenko expected to win election in landslide

Warning: This video contains violent content. Discretion advised. Belarus police fired stun grenades and detained protesters in a crackdown on protests that erupted after President Alexander Lukashenko appeared set to claim landslide election win on Sunday.

Thousands of people took to the streets of Minsk, while police blocked off streets, and at least 10 people were detained.

Video captured a line of Belarus security force personnel holding riot shields in a Minsk square, and at one point, a man throws a projectile at the forces.

The state TV exit poll showed Lukashenko won nearly 80 per cent of the vote.
