Belarusian athlete spurned by her country

Belarusian sprinter Krystsina Tsimanouskaya was a virtually unknown athlete until the 24-year-old found herself at the centre of a political scandal at the Tokyo Olympics, having posted a sarcastic comment about her country’s leadership online. Ordered to fly home by the Belarusian authorities, Tsimanouskaya has instead sought asylum at the Polish embassy in Tokyo.
