U.S. President Joe Biden has set a new goal in the country's fight against COVID-19 on Thursday, which involves 200 million vaccines administered within his first 100 days in office, which is double his initial 100 million inoculation goal.

He also announced his administration will be providing US$10 billion in funding to vulnerable communities hit hardest by the virus.

The president said his administration wouldn’t turn away unaccompanied minors at the U.S.-Mexico border. He added no previous administration had left children at the border to starve, except for the Trump administration.

Biden made the announcements during his first formal press conference since taking office in January. At 64 days, it’s the longest a new president has gone without one in 100 years.
