U.S. President Joe Biden is providing a COVID-19 response and vaccination update on Wednesday afternoon.

The U.S. State Department on Tuesday upgraded Canada to “do not travel” status amid rising COVID-19 cases in the country.

Eighty-per cent of the world’s countries are now "do not travel" countries for the U.S., according to the Associated Press. Travel is also discouraged for the remaining 20 per cent, though not as emphatically. It says people with plans to visit those countries should reconsider before proceeding.

Everyone in the United States aged 16 years and older is now eligible for COVID-19 vaccination, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said on Monday.

Earlier in April, Biden had directed states to widen the vaccine eligibility to people aged 18 or above by April 19. No COVID-19 vaccine is authorized yet for those under 16, although testing is underway.
