Biden talks COVID-19, slams Trump over report alleging bounties placed on U.S. troops
CA, 28 Jun 2020
Former U.S. vice-president and Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden took part in a forum on Saturday and touched on several topics including COVID-19, immigration and recent reports alleging Russia had offered bounties to Afghanistan militants to kill U.S. and NATO troops.
Biden slammed Trump over the reports, which also said that Trump had been briefed on the alleged bounties in March. He criticized the current president, saying that the president had "continued his embarrassing of campaign of deference and debasing himself before Vladimir Putin," saying Trump in office has been a "gift to Putin."
The former vice-president also touched on Trump's ongoing criticism that he was "hiding in his cellar," saying the more the president is out speaking at rallies, "the worse he does," adding holding rallies and other public events was dangerous during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Democratic nominee also spoke about his foreign policy and immigration plans, saying he would rescind the "Muslim ban," which saw a ban on travellers from several predominantly Muslim countries, that was heavily criticized as discriminatory and would end the child separation policy at the U.S.-Mexico border.
