An estimated 400,000 people have flocked to the Philippine capital Manila for an annual religious event despite government restrictions to slow the spread of Covid-19. The crowd of devotees gathered on January 9, 2021, to celebrate the feast of the Black Nazarene, which focuses on a centuries-old statue of Jesus Christ that is believed to have healing powers.
