Boris Johnson says pubs, shops and hairdressers to reopen April 12, as UK on track to lift lockdown

Boris Johnson has said that thanks to the success of the lockdown and vaccine rollout, step two of the roadmap will proceed as planned from April 12, meaning shops, gyms, zoos, camp sites, hairdressers and beer gardens will be allowed to reopen.

Mr Johnson also confirmed that he will be going to the pub on the first day of reopening, and will be "irreversibly but cautiously lifting a pint to my lips."
