Brazil’s President Jair Bolsonaro reportedly tested positive for Covid-19 on July 7, 2020, after developing symptoms two days earlier. The positive result on his fourth test for the coronavirus followed three previous tests which officials said were all negative. The Brazilian populist leader has repeatedly downplayed the disease, calling it a “little flu”. But Brazil is now the second only to the US in the number of cases during the global pandemic, with infections exceeding 1.6 million and over 65,000 people killed.
