Free school meals will be provided to English children during the summer holidays, in a U-turn by the government sparked by a campaign by England and Manchester United footballer Marcus Rashford.

The vouchers - for £15 a week - will be made available to around 1.3 million children and will last for six weeks.

The promised vouchers - most likely a one-off six-week voucher is expected to be given to eligible families at the end of term.
