Breonna Taylor death: City of Louisville to pay millions to family in settlement | LIVE
CA, 16 Sep 2020
The family of Breonna Taylor and their attorney, Ben Crump, are expected to attend a news conference at the office of Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer.
Earlier Tuesday it was announced that the family had reached a settlement with the city in the death of Taylor.
Taylor, a Black woman, died after police executed a no-knock search warrant at her apartment in March, according to court documents. During the commotion at her home, she was shot eight times by police and later died. A lawsuit by the family accuses the officers of battery, wrongful death, excessive force and gross negligence.
Despite the settlement reached, the officers involved reportedly are still employed and have not been arrested or charged.
