Breonna Taylor: Louisville mayor pledges police reform, says investigation into case "far from over"

CA, 24 Sep 2020
Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer responded on Wednesday after it was announced an officer had been charged in connection with the death of Breonna Taylor, saying that the investigation into the case is “far from over.”

Fischer pointed to the ongoing FBI investigation and said the Louisville police department is also conducting its own “professional standards” investigation. He said the city has already introduced several changes in the wake of Taylor’s death and said more changes are likely once the police review is complete.

“Our country has been here before,” Fischer said, alluding to the race riots that erupted across the country in 1967.

“When we look back on this time in our history, we need to be able to say we responded to this call for for more equity and to finally work on ending structural systemic racism in our country,” he said.

some minor changes to punctuation. I might suggest adding a line perhaps about the charges ccause while the officer was charged it wasn't for her death but for the raid that led to her death.
