The U.S. Committee on House Administration will hear testimony from Inspector General Michael Bolton on Monday to assess the failed security measures and countersurveillance during the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol.

A mob made up of longtime supporters of former president Donald Trump stormed the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6 as members of Congress were meeting to certify President Joe Biden's victory in the 2020 presidential election.

At least 90 people have been arrested on charges ranging from misdemeanour curfew violations to felonies related to assault on police officers, possessing illegal weapons and making death threats against House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

The FBI has also opened a murder probe into the death of Capitol Police Officer Brian D. Sicknick, who was hit in the head with a fire extinguisher, according to law enforcement officials who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the ongoing investigation publicly. He died in hospital.
