Chile picks new Constitutional Convention

DW, 15 May 2021
When Ivanna Olivares Miranda steps outside her front door, she sees thousands of avocado trees. They cover the entire valley where the 28-year-old Chilean lives. After watching how avocado industry has taken over, she now wants to step up and change things. She hopes to be elected to Chile's Constituent Assembly on May 15th.

She has one goal, for water to once again become a public good. Since the Pinochet constitution, water in Chile has been privately owned. Miranda is tired of this and now hopes for the chance of a lifetime. She is going from house to house canvassing her hometown on the campaign trail.
