Pan Yang was selected by Liangshan Bureau of China Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission to work as the first secretary of poverty alleviation in Kuijiu Village, southwest China's Sichuan Province. Most of Liangshan's population resided on mountainous areas, the construction of safe housing and supporting facilities was an important part of its poverty alleviation program so that they could move to areas with more hospitable conditions.

"Infrastructure construction is only one part of poverty alleviation work. Most importantly, we need to give villagers hope for the future," said Pan. Since Pan and his poverty alleviation team came to the village, they have not only brought new ideas and concepts to the villagers, but also pointed them a way for future development. #zeropoverty
