China charges Canadians Michael Spavor and Michael Kovrig with alleged espionage

Chinese prosecutors have formally laid charges against Michael Kovrig and Michael Spavor, two Canadians who have been detained for well over a year, on allegations of espionage.

International Affairs columnist and Global News contributor Matthew Fisher says this can only be seen as retaliation by China over Canada's role in Meng Wanzhou's extradition case and a prime example of how China conducts diplomacy.
