China reports almost 60,000 COVID-related deaths in past month

The Chinese government says 60,000 people with COVID-19 died in hospital since it abandoned its strict pandemic policy last month.
It is a sharp increase from previously reported figures, but scientists say the true tally is likely to be higher.
