Chinese university reports more applications to medicine majors amid pandemic

A Chinese university has reported a rise in the number of applications to medicine majors amid the Covid-19 pandemic. The admission office of Shanghai Jiaotong University received a relatively high number of applications for medicine related majors, including clinical medicine, pediatrics and oral medicine. The university says that the number of telephone inquiries over the subject has doubled in the past year.
However, the vice dean of the university’s school of medicine raised concerns about whether the high school applicants would be able to overcome the difficulties and stresses that come with studying medicine
