Conservatives claim Trudeau's decision to prorogue parliament is a "cover-up" | FULL

CA, 19 Aug 2020
Conservative Shadow Minister for Ethics, Michael Barrett, and Finance critic Pierre Poilievre, on Wednesday addressed Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's decision to prorogue parliament until Sept. 23, which he announced on Tuesday.

Poilievre read from newly released documents regarding WE Charity and the Canada Student Service Grant program, including emails from Michelle Kovacevic, an assistant deputy minister at Finance, who wrote that the Prime Minister’s Office had been “weighing in” on the latest student grant proposal, which had become “bit of a sh-t show."

The documents were released late Tuesday afternoon to members of the House of Commons finance committee, on the orders of Trudeau as he announced he was proroguing Parliament.

Poilievre said the fact that many of the documents are blacked out means that MPs won't be able to ask about them until after the House comes back, and claimed that Trudeau's decision to shut down parliament was a "cover-up."
