Coronavirus: Canadian officials detail new COVID-19 testing requirements for travellers | LIVE

CA, 07 Jan 2021
Transport Minister Marc Garneau is expected to hold a news conference Wednesday regarding the COVID-19 pre-departure testing requirements for air passengers, which come into effect on Jan. 7, 2021.

Garneau will be joined by the Foreign Affairs Minister François-Philippe Champagne and Bill Blair, Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness.

Canada is bringing the measures into place in a bid to quell new cases of COVID-19, preventing those carrying the virus from stepping foot on Canadian soil. The restriction comes in addition to existing measures, which include tightened borders, recommendations against non-essential travel, and a mandatory 14-day quarantine for passengers arriving in Canada.
