Coronavirus: Canadian party leaders O'Toole, Blanchet in self isolation after COVID-19 exposures

CA, 17 Sep 2020
Leader of the Bloc Québécois Yves-François Blanchet and the party’s entire caucus are in self-isolation after a staff member tested positive for the novel coronavirus. Conservative Leader Erin O’Toole is also in self-isolation along with his family after an aide tested positive for the virus, but his office is refusing to say whether he was tested for the novel coronavirus also, despite issuing a release that promised to do so Wednesday.

Blanchet's wife tested positive for COVID-19, too. He is self-isolating at his residence in Shawinigan, Que., and will be tested in nearby Mauricie.

O’Toole was to appear at a party event in Alberta later on Wednesday as part of a mini-tour of the Conservative heartland in the West. And he was just in Quebec, where he met Premier François Legault.

Mercedes Stephenson reports.
