Coronavirus: Federal government reserves $3.3B for infrastructure projects related to COVID-19

CA, 06 Aug 2020
Minister of Infrastructure and Communities Catherine McKenna on Wednesday announced that $3.3 billion out of a total of $33 billion that Ottawa had previously promised in matching funds for provincial and territorial projects will be available for infrastructure projects related to the pandemic.

Projects will include retrofits to public buildings such as schools and long-term care facilities, measures related to physical distancing which will include new walk and bike paths and those designed to protect against floods and wildfires.

The federal government plans to introduce faster application process for provinces and territories to apply for federal funds with Ottawa paying up to 80 per cent of the bills for approved projects.
