The closure of many Indonesian schools to fight the coronavirus pandemic has forced pupils into remote learning, including students in remote areas with little or no access to the internet. In some communities, volunteers are trying to bring internet access to children who need it. Another group of pupils are being asked to help tackle the problem of plastic waste to get Wi-fi access. Students who round up recyclable trash can exchange the plastic for data they need to attend their online classes.
