Coronavirus: Manitoba mandates masks for students and staff in schools
CA, 20 Aug 2020
Manitoba’s Premier Brian Pallister announced on Wednesday that his government is going to make mask-wearing mandatory for both staff and students from grades four to twelve in schools.
The announcement came after following the advice of public health officials, Pallister said.
He added that mandating masks at schools will be required only if physical distancing is not possible.
The premier also announced the province’s Pandemic Response System, an online tool that will give Manitobans “clear, timely, and more detailed and localized” information about the current risks posed by the virus — and what’s being done about it across the province.
Manitoba has seen a jump in cases lately, including the 15 new cases and one death reported Wednesday.
