Coronavirus: Nova Scotia officials to provide more details on back-to-school plan | LIVE

CA, 14 Aug 2020
Nova Scotia Education Minister Zach Churchill and the province's chief medical officer of health Dr. Robert Strang are expected to provide more details on the province's back-to-school plan.

The province announced the plan last month, with students to return to class on Sept. 8, and included aspects that would see classes reorganized to increase spacing, and treating a class as a bubble to minimize contact with other students. It also required students and staff in high school to wear masks in school spaces where distancing is not possible, like hallways and common areas, but leaving the decision to wear them in a classroom up to each individual.

Since the plan was released, it did receive criticism in terms of clarity over various aspects, including how working parents could respond should schools revert to a blended or at-home model.

The province reported no new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, keeping the total confirmed at 1,071 and the death toll at 64.
