Coronavirus: NY Gov. Cuomo calls on Trump to stop “enabling” spread of COVID-19

CA, 07 Jul 2020
New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo criticized U.S. President Donald Trump over his handling of the coronavirus pandemic as case numbers in 38 states continue to increase, while cases in his state continue to drop.

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo called on U.S. President Donald Trump on Monday not to be a "co-conspirator" of the novel coronavirus and to not enable its spread. The governor said that if the president would not "acknowledge to the American people that COVID exists," he is "facilitating" the virus. Cuomo said that the president could start by "sending that signal very simply, just wear the mask," in turn, asking Trump to tell Americans to do the same.

In New York, hospitalizations had dropped to 817 people, and nine people had died from COVID-19 on Sunday. In the U.S. overall, the number of deaths was approximately 130,000 with more than 200 deaths recorded in a 24 hour period.
