Coronavirus: Ontario Premier Ford provides update on health restrictions, vaccine rollout | LIVE

CA, 06 Mar 2021
Ontario Premier Doug Ford is expected to provide an update on Friday on the province's vaccine rollout after Health Minister Christine Elliott said on Thursday that the government was "recalibrating" its timeline and may be able to get more people their first dose sooner than originally thought.

He will be joined by Elliott, Solicitor General Sylvia Jones, chief medical officer of health Dr. David Williams and Gen. Rick Hillier, who is heading up the province's vaccine rollout, for Friday's briefing.

It's expected officials will also discuss whether Toronto, Peel Region, and North Bay will be able to move out of the stay-at-home orders and into the colour-coded pandemic response framework.

The province reported 994 cases of the coronavirus Thursday, bringing the total number of cases in the province to 304,757.

Ten additional deaths were also reported Thursday, bringing the provincial death toll to 7,024.

As of 8 p.m. Thursday, 784,828 COVID-19 vaccine doses had been administered in Ontario, which was up by 30,409. So far, 268,118 people in the province are considered to be fully vaccinated.
