Quebec Premier François Legault and Economy Minister Pierre Fitzgibbon announced Thursday that the government will cover 80 per cent of expenses such as rent and electricity for shuttered bars and restaurants in October as Greater Montreal, Quebec City and certain parts of the Chaudière-Appalaches region go into a partial lockdown in October.

Under the red zone designation, private gatherings are prohibited and bars, taverns, restaurant dining rooms, casinos, cinemas, theatres, and museums are being forced to close for a 28-day period starting Oct. 1.
