Coronavirus: Quebec warns it will close venues flouting coronavirus measures | FULL

CA, 07 Jul 2020
Quebec Health Minister Christian Dubé issued a warning to owners of bars and other venues in the province on Monday that are flouting coronavirus restrictions, telling them that officials will shut down venues that fail to enforce the rules.

Dubé delivered the remarks during a media briefing about the province’s response to the novel coronavirus pandemic, alongside public health director Dr. Horacio Arruda.
“If the rules are not respected, we will close down your venue,” Dubé said. “I just want to make sure we’re very clear.”

The comments also come a day after public health authorities asked customers and staff who frequented a bar on Montreal’s south shore on June 30 to be tested, after COVID-19 cases were detected among those who visited Mile Public House that evening.

Quebec reported 74 new cases of COVID-19 on Monday, bringing the total number since the pandemic first began to 55,937. Three new deaths were also reported, bringing the province’s death toll to 5,577.
