A back-to-school plan unveiled in Prince Edward ISland (PEI) Wednesday calls for students and teachers to be divided into separate cohorts with minimal contact between different groups.

Premier Dennis King says the rules released by the Public Schools Branch are aimed at the safe and successful return of students to school on September 8th.

The plan calls for cohorts to arrive and depart and to have lunch and recess at staggered times to minimize the spread of COVID-19 if there's an outbreak at a school.

Students will be required to bring a non-medical mask to school and it's recommended they wear it when physical distancing isn't possible -- but use is not mandatory.
