World Health Organization director-general Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus is expected to hold a briefing along with other WHO officials on Friday as worldwide cases of COVID-19 have passed 32 million with deaths nearing 1 million.

With many parts of the world facing closures again amid a resurgence of COVID-19 cases, WHO said they're aiming for 2 billion doses of a COVID-19 vaccine by the end of next year.

Currently, almost 200 vaccine candidates are under different phases of testing, but there is no guarantee a single vaccine will work.
