CA, 09 Mar 2021
Alberta Health Minister Tyler Shandro announced Monday that the province was relaxing more restrictions, completing Step 2 of the phased reopening.

Under the new rules, all retail services and shopping malls can increase their capacity to 25 per cent of fire code occupancy not including staff. Previously, retail shops could only allow 15 per cent capacity. However, curbside pickup, delivery and online services are still encouraged.

Individuals or group performers are allowed to rehearse for filming or livestream events, provided they adhere to public health guidelines. Access to facilities for rehearsals or filming is allowed with up to 10 individuals.

Banquet halls, community halls, conference centres and hotels can now open for all activities under Steps 1 and 2. These include hosting virtual events, permitted performance activities, wedding ceremonies for up to 10 individuals and funeral services with a maximum of 20 people. Wedding receptions, funeral receptions and trade shows are not permitted.

Alberta chief medical officer of health Dr. Deena Hinshaw announced the province identified 278 new COVID-19 infections with six deaths related to the disease on Monday.
