A year ago, a ban on leaving the country would have seemed ludicrous.

But on Thursday, MPs will vote on proposals to impose a £5,000 fine on anyone who travels abroad without good reason, which doesn't include going on holiday.

Many Britons are wondering when they are going to be able to travel abroad freely again.
