COVID-19: WHO asks for more doses for poorer nations amid global vaccine inequities

The World Health Organization (WHO) is pleading with wealthier nations to postpone booster shots and instead help vaccinate people in poorer countries first, as the Omicron variant of the virus that causes COVID-19 spreads.

Despite millions of doses being donated, global vaccine inequity gap remains massive. In Nigeria, just 1.7 per cent of the country's 200 million people are fully vaccinated – compare that to more than 75 per cent of Canadians that already are.

Global’s Mike Le Couteur looks at what Canada says it's doing to close the gap.
