Cressida Dick on Police Memorial Day: we are just 'human beings who go to work to help people'

Telegraph, 27 Sep 2020
Metropolitan Police Commissioner Cressida Dick, Home Secretary Priti Patel and London Mayor Sadiq Khan today laid wreaths to honour the police officers who have lost their lives on National Police Memorial Day.

Tributes were paid to Matt Ratana, alongside the six other officers who have died on duty in the past 12 months.

Mrs Dick hopes that if some good can come out after the killing of police officer Matt Ratana is that more people would understand the challenging of their work, and would see policemen and policewomen for who they are: "human beings who go to work, to help people, to support people, and to protect people."
