Wildlife officers have recently tranquillised several wild boars in Hong Kong, citing threats they pose to humans in the neighbourhood. The incident came just a week after a police officer was bitten by a wild boar. The pigs were subsequently culled, triggering a public outcry. Welfare groups and even local artists have voiced concerns, urging wild animals to be allowed to live in the city. A nine-year-old petitioned Hong Kong Chief Executive Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor, urging her administration to reconsider the controversial policy.
