The distressing footage shows the moment playtime turned to trauma, as an airstrike hit the town of Kuna Masa in Iraq. Two people were tragically killed and a further six injured. The two fatalities were reportedly Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) fighters – their vehicle was supposedly targeted when it stopped outside the village's market. The six wounded were apparently all from the same family. Footage shows the moment adults and children are playing in a river, before a loud bang is heard and they dash for cover. The town, north of Sulaimani city, is a popular place for families to go on picnics.
Turkey has been conducting daily airstrikes on Northern Iraq and the Kurdistan Region since June 15, saying that its operations are necessary to combat the PKK.
