Dramatic footage captures what it's like for a firefighter responding to an apartment fire

CA, 14 Sep 2021
Intense body-worn camera footage released by the Wichita Fire Department in Wichita, Kansas on September 10 shows us what it's like as a firefighter trying to put out a fire that's consumed an apartment building.

The apartment fire on South Emporia Avenue began some four days earlier, on the morning of September 6. No deaths were reported, the Wichita Fire Department said, but six people, including two firefighters, were treated for injuries on the scene. Four people were displaced by the fire, according to authorities.

The video shows thick flames billowing from the second and third floors, with heavy fire extending into the attic and roof as fire crews moved inside the building to put out the flames.

The fire department reported an estimated loss of $200,000 to the structure and $50,000 to the contents.

“Those families have a lot to rebuild, but they still have each other,” the department said in a Facebook post.
