Ed Miliband rails against controversial internal market bill in parliament

Guardian, 30 Sep 2020
Former Labour leader Ed Miliband railed against the government's controversial internal market bill, urging MPs from all parties to vote against a bill that he called 'wrong and self-defeating' while also acknowledging that it would pass nonetheless.
There has been significant Tory rebellion over the controversial bill that breaches international law, but it still passed with 340 ayes to 256 noes.
The bill will now move to the Lords, where Boris Johnson faces potentially stiffer opposition, not least from Michael Howard, the former Tory leader who has also condemned the law-breaking plan.
