Canadian federal health officials are expected to hold a technical briefing Thursday to provide an update on the vaccine rollout progress across the country.

Canada added 4,050 cases of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of infections to 946,375 as of Wednesday.

Health officials also confirmed 24 more people have died after testing positive for the coronavirus.

Canada’s chief public health officer Dr. Theresa Tam said as national case counts continue to increase, and as the proportion of cases of the new, more transmissible variants of the virus continues to rise, it is a “crucial time.”
