Father of a Manchester Arena bombing victim: Police and security 'failed us on every level'

Telegraph, 17 Jun 2021
Paul Hett, the father of Martyn Hett, 29, who died in the arena bombing, said: "Our wonderful son Martin lost his life in the Manchester Arena attack. Since then our lives have been torn apart and we were heartbroken to find that Martin had just been in the wrong place at the wrong time."

In a report examining security measures at the venue in northwest England, inquiry chairman John Saunders said Arena operator SMG, security provider Showsec and British Transport Police all missed opportunities to either prevent or mitigate the attack, which took place on May 22, 2017.
