Fines and possible closure for pubs and restaurants that fail to make their venues 'Covid-secure'
Telegraph, 10 Sep 2020
Hospitality venues will now be legally required to request the contact details of all members of the party and those breaking the rules could face a fine, says Mr Hancock.
Venues will now have to record and retain contact details for 21 days and provide them to NHS Track and Trace when required without delay.
This system was working well voluntarily, he said. But it isn’t in place in all venues, so “it is only fair it is followed by all.”
Local authorities will also have new powers to close venues that are breaking rules and posing a risk to public health. Those venues who are found to be breaking the rules will face a fine, Mr Hancock announced.
