Four premiers ask for $70B boost to health care ahead of throne speech | FULL

CA, 19 Sep 2020
Ontario Premier Doug Ford, Manitoba Premier Brian Pallister, Alberta Premier Jason Kenney and Québec Premier François Legault will hold a press conference in Ottawa on Friday to issue their "wish list" for next week's throne speech.

The four liked-minded conservative premiers will likely be asking for more federal funding for their provinces amid the pandemic from Trudeau's minority liberal government.

Ford and Legault last week called on Ottawa to significantly increase the annual federal transfer payments to provinces and territories for health care.

The throne speech is expected to include three main priorities: measures to protect Canadians’ health and avoid another national lockdown; economic supports to help keep Canadians financially afloat while the pandemic continues; and longer-term measures to eventually rebuild the economy.
