Warning: This video contains disturbing content. Discretion advised. Three district attorneys in California became emotional during a press conference on Monday following the guilty plea of Joseph James DeAngelo Jr., also known as the Golden State Killer, for 13 murders and his confession to dozens of rapes and home invasions in the state during the 1970s and 80s. DeAngelo will avoid the death penalty in exchange for pleading guilty and will be sentenced to life in prison.

Sacramento County district attorney Anne Marie Schubert spoke about DeAngelo's crimes, calling him a "real life version of Hannibal Lecter," saying he was a "pure sociopath."

Orange County district attorney Todd Spitzer said that the case was disturbing because it didn't "follow God's plan," saying a parent should never bury their children, and children should not witness their parents being beaten and killed.

Joyce Dudley, district attorney for Santa Barbara County also spoke about the hours they sat during deAngelo's guilty plea, saying she saw sadness and rage in the eyes of those sitting in the room, but also signs of peace and bravery.
